Kenya is a country located in East Africa. Kenya was declared independent from British powers in 1964. It has been considered a very diverse country. In recent years, it's experienced a few problems. A controversial election, ethnic violence, and extreme poverty have dominated the country. The nation has abundant wildlife, which makes it the target of tourism.
Current Affairs
Kenya restored its multi-party politics after violent unrest and international pressure. In the election of 2002-2005, the ruling Kanu party was beat by its opposing candidate. This was a very controversial election that has brought a considerable amount of ethnic violence to the country. Kenya has experienced a boost in it's economy and is recovering, but there's still many people below the poverty line. The nation had military enter Somalia in October 2011 to curb the threat of the Islamist militant al-Shabab movement, which is accused of the kidnap and killing of tourists and aid workers. Kenyan troops are now largely integrated into the overall Amiscom African Union forces in Somalia.
